Willys in Top Performance
Now the that Willys is all painted and ready for the beach, I had to take it out for a spin. For some reason Collier though I was going too fast. Clearly he knows nothing about the physics of approaching the speed of light.
Lightening Strike on the Spit
When not to be on the Spit We had a huge lightning storm around the house last night, and our webcam captured lightning striking what looks like the end of the Spit. The storm lasted a few hours in the early morning, and strikes could be seen all around us every 10 to 15 seconds. … Continue reading
Digging up the Back Lawn
Despite our best efforts to keep the Bittersweet at bay, we lost the battle with many of the bushes and a few of the trees. Our best option was to rip out anything the Bittersweet touched, and plant again. The trees come in next week (whew).
The End of the Rainbow
Sometimes nature reminds you that this place is special.
Getting the Sunfish Seaworthy
I didn’t thoroughly clean the sunfish last Fall, and left to sit over the winter, it needed some major polishing. First Day at the Beach
The house is open, and the beach was calling on this 67F day in March. Even the CJ-3B started after it’s winter slumber without a fuss. The house survived unscathed, thanks to Derek, and cocktails have already started with the neighbors. Life is good at the beach. Very good.
New Front Steps
We’ve expanded (just slightly) the tiny front steps to enter the house. Making these a little bigger means it’s a lot easier to get in and out through the front door. The previously steps were clearly sized for gnomes.
Hawks in the Neighbor’s Yard
Kathy took this picture of a Red Tailed Hawk in our neighbor’s yard. While seeming innocuous, it quickly swooped down and ate a rabbit. If you have a miniature poodle, owner beware!
Up On The Roof
With the help of Derrick, our skilled and adventurous contractor, I scaled the roof, to see what a bird’s eye view would be. The view was as breathtaking as he promised, but I had to dig deep to find the courage to climb down the ladder. Going up seemed simple by comparison.
