Fishing on the Spit
Sam and I ventured out to the end of the spit for sunset and sunrise fishing. The weather was a perfect Fall day, and the sunset and sunrise was picture perfect. The fact that the fish eluded us was of minor consequence, as we enjoyed every moment.
Beach Breach
Hurricane “Bill” didn’t do much damage to Cape Cod, but did breach the Spit in a number of places, including just to the left of our house. The kids used the opportunity to boogie-board from the beach to the inlet, turning the inlet into the scene of a makeshift water park.
Grayson’s Third Birthday
Grayson’s third birthday was celebrated at the beach and house, as pirates stormed the inlet in full costume and flag flying. They arrived on land, and with the help of a treasure map and a posse of Grayson’s friends, dug for their buried treasure by the Big Rock. Everyone then retreated to the house for … Continue reading
The Way Life is Meant to be Experienced
Sometimes it takes a two year old to remind you that life is meant to be enjoyed. All you really have are your experiences, so when you see an opportunity, take it, and enjoy it – every damn minute of it.
Dave Mows His First Lawn
Drawn to the Call of the Lawn, Dave bought a lawn mower and is attempting to do what every other red-blooded American male is comfortable with doing. So far, all appendages are intact, and he’s only run out of gas once.
Old Friends Together Again
The Rendigs/Allen/Strickler clan was together again, this time on this side of the globe. Sonia, Romy and Chuck made the journey for a week on the Cape, and Steve came up from New York to make the gathering compete. The weather was perfect (for a change this summer), and we spent the week eating, drinking, … Continue reading
The Willys Rides Again
The beach re-opened to vehicles, and our 1954 CJ-3B Willys is already hauling beach chairs, blankets, toys, and snacks. Perhaps not as dignified as the Jeep’s original purpose, but it’s still in service and providing hours of fun.
The First Fun Walk/Run
The first (and hopefully annual) Fun Run/Walk was held today at Pricilla Landing. The course was a 5k, and was enjoyed by about 60 participants as they made their way through Nauset Heights. Jess Tucker put this event on as a community get-together, and it was enjoyed by all on a perfect, warm (and dry) … Continue reading
A Fox Debates a Beach Excursion
A clever neighbor has decided our stairs to the beach make for each access. He’s been spotted a few times on our lawn, and today made his way onto the beach. Our property is full of rabbits, and my guess is he’s going in search of lunch.
June Nor’ Easter
The storm was a big one, and a few old fishing cottages in Chatham didn’t survive the storm. While their beach front had been eroding for years, it was still sad to see them go. These cottages were some of the last in New England that were on an island, really a spit of beach … Continue reading
