The landscaping continues
Theresa and her crew have been hard at work on our landscaping. Plants and small trees have popped up all over the property, and a few split rail fences have appeared as well to help frame in some of the plantings. Our stone walkway from the driveway is now complete, and like most of these … Continue reading
Almost at the CO now…
The project is finally in its last stages, and we’re waiting for a CO (Certificate of Occupancy) from the town and a final inspection from the fire department. After that, we’re home free! Now we’re working on the landscaping (yes, we finally have grass again) which will touch almost every part of the property. Hopefully … Continue reading
Bee Hive Unboxing
My new toy has arrived, and is all shiny and new. By the June 13th, it should be full of 10,000 bees, happy pollenating flowers and plants within a two mile radius of the house, and storing up honey for the winter. For those that haven’t heard, I’ve decided to keep a hive on the … Continue reading
Work continues on the outside of the house
Landscaping has started around the house, a sign that the project is in it’s last phases. Loam has been laid down around the house and has been seeded. The lawn will take about a year to fully come in, but will be usable during this summer. It will be great to see plants returning as … Continue reading
Bedframe made from old timbers
Our contractors made an incredible bed frame and headboard for us out of the extra timbers in the house. These beams, dated to the 1920s when the house was built, made a perfect king size bed, and match the timers used as beams in the ceiling.
Basement walls are up
The walls and ceiling are up and painted, washing machine and dryer is up and operational, and all that’s really left is the installation of the floors and the completion of the downstairs bathroom. Charlie and his team have done and incredible job, as shown by their outstanding work.
Both new showers have rock floors
The whole family collected the rocks from the beach outside the house over a few weekends, given us more than enough to create two shower floors, one for downstairs and one new one in the existing ground floor guest bath.
Plants are Returning
After a very patient year, the first of the plantings have arrived back at the house. Most of them spent the last year on other parts of the property, out of the way enough to avoid bulldozers and other equipment. Almost all survived the move, and although they’re looking a little scrawny, they should sleep … Continue reading
Work is Progressing
The framing of the basement is almost done, as is the HVAC system, the latter being just in time for this winter’s early cold-snap. There’s also a raw but functional internal staircase from the ground floor into the basement that makes for an easy, warm entry into the basement. The coming weeks should give us … Continue reading
BeachCams are in a State of Flux
Due to work on the house’s electrical system, the BeachCams are experiencing a lot of outages. As work progresses, they may be down for a few hours each day during the month of November. Thanks for your patience during this unavoidable electrical work.
